9 Sacrifices of Worship

QUOTE: Lou Giglio
Worship is simply giving God His breath back!!

Psalms 47:1-7 NKJV – Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. He will subdue the peoples under us, And the nations under our feet. He will choose our inheritance for us, The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah God has gone up with a shout, The LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding (we are not meant to be an echo, we are meant to sing praises of UNDERSTANDING).

What does it mean to sing praises of understanding?  An echo just repeats the same thing, God doesn’t want ignorant worship, I believe He wants genuine people with understanding of worship!

John 4:21-24 NKJV – Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither worship the Father in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem (Mt Zion and Jerusalem were places designated for worship). You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

BUT in spirit and truth!

  1. Must: this the same word used in John 3, you must be born again…. It is a command , there is NO alternatives..and if you want to worship God, this is how you must do it
  2. spirit
So you must do it in spirit (small s, your spirit not the Holy Spirit, yes the Holy Spirit is part of our worship, but this is instruction to us of our spirit which is synonymous with our heart, with all my might, all your strength, all your might and all your soul! with your whole heart you shall worship Him Psalm 86:12 says
  3. Truth: What is truth?
John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.  Truth = His Word

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
