Are You Being Transformed

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  (New American Standard)

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!  (New Living Translation)

Mat 4:18  While Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon (also called Peter) and his brother Andrew. Jesus calls to them “come follow me”

This is the same Peter,

  1. That rebukes Jesus for going to the cross, Jesus says “get behind me satan”
  2. The same Peter who attacks the servant of the Priest with a sword
  3. The same Peter that denies Jesus when He was being beaten
  4. The same Peter who gave up on ministry and after Jesus death, returns fishing..
  5. But then the same Peter who arrives on Pentecost and preaches on the first church planting service and sees 3000 souls into the church and kingdom

Now let’s look at John:
Mat 4:21  Going on from there he saw two other brothers—James son of Zebedee and his brother Now let us look at the Disciple John.

  1. The same John that Jesus called the Sons of Thunder
  2. The same John, that asked, ‘Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?’”
  3. The same John that became the disciple Jesus loved
  4. The same John that earned the name, the Apostle of Love

So John goes from being a man of aggression to the Apostle of Love!

Peter goes from being the impulsive emotionally led man to the stable rock that the church is founded upon.

Quote: God will accept you the way you are, but He won’t leave you the same!

Every DISCIPLE should have the evidence of the transformation work in their life.

Rom 12:1  I urge you brethren, by the mercies of God, that you may present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Or (for this is the reasonable way for you to worship) International Standard Version

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  1. Living Sacrifice
    1. In the OT, the priest would do certain things, some things he would do were
      1. He would bring the offering without blemish and lay his hand on the head (transference or transacts a transaction of sin) to us (OUR HIGH PRIEST JESUS transacts RIGHTEOUSNESS)
      2. He remove the legs, head and remove the inward parts of the sacrifice, washing them
  • After preparing the sacrifice, the priest would place it all on the ALTAR for burning to the Lord
  1. This is but your reasonable service to God, how we serve God
    There isn’t actually another way, when you worship, we should;

    1. Let Jesus our high priest:
      1. Change our way (surrender your feet),
      2. Change our inward parts (surrender your inner parts and He will give you a new heart)
      3. Surrender your headship, a new head (talking of submission to Jesus being the head, taking His mind over your life)

I don’t believe that there’s another, a follower of Jesus will willingly lay down on an altar of fire….even when it hurts
(The problem with a willing living sacrifice is, you can get off when it gets too hot)

  1. Be not conformed to this world
    1. The word conformed means: do not be fashion alike, that is, conform to the same pattern or in today, do not conform to the same STANDARDS

      1. How is our faithfulness to serving our boss, our colleagues..go the extra mile?
      2. How is our faithfulness in paying our bills, do we pay on time?
      3. What about in our language….
      4. In our emotions, not given to anger!!! But be patient, kind, long suffering..
      5. One day we will be measured to the STANDARD of the Word, Jesus, Rev 11:2 a reed and leave the outer court..Jesus = REED
  1. But be transformed by the renewing of your mind!

    1. That word “transformed” is used about Jesus on the mountain oftransfiguration (the mountain of “transformation” — same word, metemorphōthē): “And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light” (Matthew 17:2Mark 9:2).

We aren’t meant to look like a half of Jesus and half the world!!
Light is light, salt is salt, diminish either one and they loose their purpose

When you loose your difference from the world, you have no IMPACT.
