Compassion, an act of ones Will

Gods mission, is the churches mission!
He came to seek and save that which was lost!

And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:9-10 NKJV)

Psa 111:4  He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Matt 9:36

1 John 3:17  But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

Luke 15:20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

Mark 1:40-41 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.”

Matt 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”

Feeling empathy or feeling sorrow for someone is still not Compassion!
Has anyone driven past someone broken down on the highway and felt sorry for them?  Did you stop?  It still didn’t move you to ACTION.  Compassion moves you to getting involved.
The Hebrew word compassion comes from the word meaning the Womb. So compassion means, to have tender mercy, toward someone in need, and to have deep love like an unborn child with a commitment to care for that someone as if their life depended upon it.

The true Compassion creates an atmosphere for the Supernatural
We want the miracles, do we want to show compassion first?

Charles Finney once said “to pray and do nothing is to temp God”

Three Steps to be moved with Compassion:

Object – Eros (needs a physical form)
Emotion – Philo (from the mind, a companion) brotherly Love, need to be moved in our emotion
Will – Agape Gods love (from the Heart,  a decision to step in and love with action, unconditionally reaches out)

God wants us to be a people that live in community with a true commitment to COMPASSION!  We are the light of the World…
