Five Loaves & Two Fish

Luk 9:12 Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to Jesus, “Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get food, for we are here in a desolate place.” But Jesus said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish (=7) unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.” For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” And they did so, and had them all sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, Jesus looked up to heaven, He blessed it and broke it and gave it to the disciples to give it to the 5000. And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.

1. First key: Jesus blessed it….He blessed something that was clearly not enough

  1. Ever felt like you are not good enough to be used?? Look what Jesus did with a boys lunch?
  2. Until we can be thankful with our little, what you have cannot be multiplied into more than enough
  3. Question: Is what you have ever enough??  NO
    1. Speak life over what you have and Bless it in His name for His use.
    2. The person who says “I’ll tithe to God when I win the lottery” It starts now in the little,
  • People forget that God interested in making the person in the obedience not their money
  • A person that wins a lottery will only give once in a lifetime, God is interested in lifetime giving

2. Second key: He broke it…the blessing happens in the breaking

  1. When Jesus blessed it there was still five loaves and two fish…but when He broke it, we lose count of it
  2. The breaking of life brings the blessings of life
  3. Show me a woman or a man that has done great things without a trial in their life…you won’t show me 1
  4. The person that refuses to be broken is refusing to be blessed!!!!!
  5. The most blessed ones, have gone through great breaking points…
Matt 21:44 The one who falls on the rock will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls will be crushed to powder.” God wants to remake you in His image, not the worlds.

3. Someone Gave it…Before a miracle could happen..someone has to sacrifice their lunch

  1. The little boy speaks of humility…we need humility in our giving..
  2. The humility is not putting your name to it for your fame…we don’t know the boys name!! The word tells us to give in secret…and He will reward you in heaven
  3. As Jesus produced the miracle…He gave to His disciples to give to the people..Jesus will do His part and do the miracle through your hands….with humble hearts…
  4. A portion of your blessings should go to others…it shouldn’t always end at your hands..
  5. Be like the little boy and surrender what you have to Jesus…and see the miracles that will follow

Proverbs 21:2  Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD evaluates his motives.
