Kingdom – Culture within the Kingdom

Matthew 25 – The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Maidens

25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten maidens who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[a] go out to meet him!’ Then all those maidens arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[b] in which the Son of Man is coming.

  1. Full Relationship with God
    1. True FULL relationship with God and man is paramount!!
    2. All maidens were called….All had their lamps, but not all had enough fuel!
    3. Anyone here run out of PETROL before? Can I see your hands?
      1. Almost 43 per cent of the 7643 incidents attended by VicRoads in Melbourne in September 2011, dealt with broken down vehicles due to empty petrol tanks, in-spite of all the new technology, multiple computer warnings in cars today, people still neglect to put fuel in their tanks!!
      2. The cause they said…lazy people trying to cut corners and save money!!
    5. It’s not rocket science how to keep a full tank is it?
    6. Interesting, He returns when it is dark, and your need your lamp to last and not go out! Preparation is found in true relationship with God, because what is coming is going to be very dark..and if we knew the time we wouldn’t both preparing until that last day…. Its HUMAN NATURE…putting off…
  2. Live clean
    1. Did you know that the high Priest would have to keep his hands, feet and garments clean throughout the days of offerings..or he would die? Many, many times washing as he went in to the Holy of holies and back out to the altar of sacrifice. What does this represent to us?
    2. Psalm 24:2-4 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not set his mind on what is false, and who has not sworn deceitfully.
    3. Jesus has made you righteous…clothed you with a robe from above…But we still are required to live clean lives before God…
Romans 6: 1-2 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

The Laver was made of Mirrored Bronze – Its purpose was to clean one self. The Word

  1. The laver served one great purpose, the washing and cleansing of the priest from all defilement.
Psalm 119:9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Eph 5:26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
  2. The Laver was always the second position after altar (blood and sacrifices), meaning your Salvation came first then the Laver process, the WORD. Washing the hands & feet
  3. HANDS: The hands speak of what they did, their service, their work, everything they put their hands to was important and so their hands needed to be cleansed always, and daily. The initial cleansing was done only once, the daily cleansing was done continuously. Is your work clean before God?  Pay taxes?

  4. FEET: The feet represented where they went, their lives and ways. Their walk had to be a holy walk, so their feet were washed always, everyday. Is your walk clean before God?

  1. Humility “who shall be the greatest in your Kingdom? You must be like little children Matt 18” Humility
    1. How do you tell the tears from the wheat? Tears raise the head up over wheat when they grow, other than that they look very similar, to hard to pick.
    2. Camel in Hebrew is same word as pride…why?
    3. The camel was a common animal in the herds of the Nomads of both the Ancient and Modern times. A mans wealth was measured by the size of his herds of livestock including camels (see Genesis 30:43). Camels were a valued beast of burden because of their ability to carry large loads of stuff and being able to travel long distances without water.
    4. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:25
    5. The “Eye of theNeedle” has been claimed to be a gate in Jerusalem, which opened after the main gate was closed at night.  A camel could only pass through this smaller gate if it was stooped lowly and had its baggage removed.
    6. We must make sure our life is not like the Camel, high, proud, thinking we are more than others, carry so much stuff from life…that we can’t let go of our possessions to go through the gate of eternal life!!!
    7. Humility is the key to this gate!!
  2. Accountability “Matthew 18 confront issues to see none lost”
    1. In His Kingdom there is instruction to deal with offenses and issues!! There is no room for un-dealt with issues.
    2. I the church could fix this one thing….oh what a difference it would make..
    3. Stop church hoping….stop wounding people…which causes the unchurched to grow..
    4. When things are done right, Mat 18:19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, (context of discipline) it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
  3. A Kingdom with many tribes, tongues and locations
    1. We are called to partner and united with other brothers to see His Kingdom established, it is not just about our part of the plan….we are called to build for the bigger plan too.
    2. That means, helping other churches achieve their visions and dreams
    3. Helping people set up ministries, giving to see them fulfill the call of God
    4. His Kingdom is not limited to one location…
    5. Did you know that there is a reward for your faithfulness to building His Kingdom?
1 Cor 3:14 If what has been built survives the fire, the builder will receive a reward.
