The Foundations of Faith – Part 1

By Ps Nathan Hay

If you’re ever going to build anything worthwhile, you have got to build it on a good foundation!!

Question: does your life surround your faith or does your faith surround your life?

Our lifestyle is so important these days, comforts and riches…but how much more important is your faith compared to your comforts?

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matt 16:26

STATEMENT: Faith is the only bridge that connects us to God and His divine purpose for this life and the one to come!

Here are 3 Points to building a strong foundation of faith

  1. Live life with the revelation that Jesus was and is the Son of God,

    1. And with this revelation, God will build His people the church (you and I) and the gates of hell will not be able to prevent it coming to pass.
    2. Also with the revelation that Jesus came to this world humbly to pay for sin of the past, present and future…
    3. That Jesus came to fulfill the covenant of Sin and Death to the believer.. bringing a new life of living (a better law, the law of liberty)
    4. Also that Jesus died on the cross, He was buried then He rose again
    5. So because I believe this, I choose to live a life that brings Him glory in heaven, not one of

2. Live in accordance to what Jesus says to do in His Word, the Bible

When we come into the Kingdom of God through Jesus, we then become His disciples, bought for a price, we are no longer our own….we now choose to be under the rule of the King in the Kingdom.

– We don’t come into the kingdom and do whatever we want to do…If we did, that just means we’re living in our own lifestyle not the Kingdom.  The Kingdom has culture set by the King.

3. Live life talking to God

  1. Often talk to God,
  2. Start the day with good morning Holy Spirit, end the day the same way?
  3. Make quality time to communicate with Him, the Spirit of God has been given as your helper
  4. It would be silly not to use a Him who sits in the back seat of your heart and never asking His help
  5. I often ask the Holy Spirit for things…give me a word for that person…or even when something is lost….where is that thing….or show me should we buy this house Lord? Give me a peace.

Do you know what the defining feature we Christians are meant to all have? We are supposed to be a people of FAITH IN GOD!!!  Everything else stems from this.

Romans 10:17
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Hebrews 2:1 NKJV
“Therefore we must give the more earnest attention to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.”

Don’t let your faith drift away…

“being confident of this one thing, that He who has begun a good work in me is well able to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:6
